Real Life
In Magic circles, I'm a retired Regional (Level 3) DCI Judge. I'm more of a collector than a player; and I especially like picking up non-card memorabilia in between cracking open boxes for full sets.
I became a certified judge at the 1997 Pro Tour Chicago, passing directly into Level II (you could do that in those days). My first attempt at Level III was the 2000 Pro Tour Chicago and, although I didn't pass, I did experience my one and only job as a reporter. I was promoted to Level III at 2001 Pro Tour New Orleans. I had the pleasure of working with a lot of great judges and judge-trainees until 2007, when I retired.
On the rare occasion I get to, I play casual games in MTGO and have been known to lurk on IRC channels #mtg & #mtgjudge, where I go by some variation of "Evil_Eye".
Speaking of "Evil Eye", someday I'll tell you the story of why Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore is the best card in Magic.
