This is an overview of the policies, guidelines, and principles for the M:TG Archive.

M:TG Archive is a free resource of information related to Magic: The Gathering. Its goals go no further. See What M:TG Archive is not for more information.
Don't infringe copyrights. The content of the M:TG Archive is licensed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 License. Submitting the work of others in a way that infringes on their copyright interferes with our goal of making this a truly free resource. See Copyrights for more information.
Respect other contributors. Contributors to the M:TG Archive may come from many different backgrounds, countries, and cultures. They almost surely will have very different views. Remember to assume good faith in the actions of others, and they will likely do the same for you.

M:TG Archive is not a mirror. Some source material – such as specific Magic: The Gathering card wordings (the Oracle), rules, tournament reports, etc. – should not be submitted to M:TG Archive. That material may be changed often, or be subject to copyright protection. Relevant portions can be quoted, where necessary, to add informative value.
M:TG Archive is not a vehicle for anyone's self-promotion or personal gain. M:TG Archive is for non-commercial use, and that extends to both the content of the pages here and to the re-use of this content anywhere else. Specifically, "spam" and other such advertising is subject to immediate removal from this site.
M:TG Archive is not a free host or webspace provider. While it is encouraged that Archivists give some information about themselves, such as on their User: page, use of this site's services to host personal webpages is forbidden. Likewise, direct external linking ("bandwidth theft") to images or other media on this website is not allowed.
