Administrators are users which have been given a few extra abilities to assist with routine maintenance. Administrators do not have privileged editing rights over other users.
Here is a list of some of the special actions a sysop can perform:
- Delete pages which have been deemed unnecessary or unwanted (Deletion log).
- Protect pages from editing, to enforce "cool down" periods in the event of a content dispute, or to avoid vandalism (Protected pages, Protection log).
- Block vandals or extremely troublesome users (Block log, list of blocked users and IP addresses)
- Ability to edit the interface text messages found in the MediaWiki: namespace (Special:Allmessages) and other protected pages.
Bureaucrats have access to an additional utility which allows them to promote users to administrator or bureaucrat level. Currently, only the website owner can remove this access once granted.

After you've been here for some time, and showed a willingness to assist with the growth and maintenance of The Archive, you may request promotion to administrator here. After some time (usually a week), if the community agrees that you'll make a good administrator, a bureaucrat will promote you.
