(June 29, 1995)‹Wizards of the Coast, Inc. is pleased to announce that Ediciones Martinez Roca, a division of Grupo Editorial Planeta (a worldwide publishing house), is the newest member to join Wizards of the Coast¹s group of international partners. Ediciones Martinez Roca will market and distribute Magic: El Encuentro(TM), Wizards of the Coast¹s Spanish version of Magic: The Gathering(TM). The company will support distributors and retailers, provide customer service, and organize and promote gaming events within Spain. "They will act as the eyes and ears for Wizards of the Coast in Spain," said Emily Smith, Director of Business Development, International Business. "Ediciones Martinez Roca¹s solid reputation, combined with its strong customer and marketing support base, will strengthen Wizards of the Coast¹s presence in the Spanish market. We are very excited that they have joined our International team." Magic: El Encuentro will be released to coincide with the 1995 Magic: The Gathering Spanish National Championships, July 910, in Madrid. An Italian limited edition of Magic was released in October 1994, followed by German and French editions in March 1995. The Portuguese edition will premiere this summer and a Japanese edition is currently in the works.
