Double strike

Double Strike is an advanced keyword ability. It first appeared in the Magic: The Gathering set Legions. The ability is mainly found in red cards.
Creatures with double strike deal their combat damage in both the first strike damage step and the regular damage step. For example, a 2/2 creature with double strike that blocks a 2/4 creature without double strike would deal 4 damage total to the blocked creature, killing it (and dying in the process). Accordingly, creatures with double strike generally cost as though their power was doubled.
