The Deckmasters box set was published in September 2001. It featured two decks, each consisting of Ice Age and Alliances cards. Richard Garfield and Jon Finkel each designed one deck.
The Deckmasters box set came in an embossed metal collector's tin and included:
- 2 x 62 card decks
- Two 20-sided Spindown life counter dice, with the Deckmasters symbol in place of the 20.
- A 10-by-14 inch poster of Lhurgoyf fighting Goblin Mutant
- A full-color booklet containing decklists, expert analysis, biographies, behind-the-scenes stories, and more
- 1 consumer response card to provide feedback
The sets included four premium (foil) cards:
- Icy Manipulator
- Incinerate
- Lhurgoyf
- Necropotence
